We will also strengthen our customer partnerships through:同时康柏还将通过以下途径来加强我们与客户的关系:Focused, global account management, Industry-leading service and support, and, A commitment to sell the way you want to buy, whether it is through our extensive network of resellers by phone or over the Internet. What will differentiate Compaq from our competitors is our ability to innovate with industry standard solutions to help you achieve real value from your IT investments faster and more reliably and to respond more quickly and effectively to customer needs. And when I talk about customers, I mean all of our customers from a family investing for the first time in a personal computer to a small or medium business that wants to sell its products on the Internet to a large global company that is implementing Windows NT across the enterprise. The foundation for the new world of computing we envision is one that Compaq has been building and reinforcing since we introduced the first industry compatible portable computer 16 years ago - that is, standards-based computing. Ive been thinking a lot about that first Compaq product during the last few weeks. I dont know how many of you remember it. Its nickname was the ;luggable,; and for a very good reason. It weighed 28 pounds - 7 to 8 times heavier than todays lightest notebook computers. It was also about as rugged as they come. For people whose machines would not boot-up, the tech support people had a unique solution: hold the computer about three to six inches above the floor and drop it. Think-pad。Well, both Compaq and the industry have come a long way since then. In 1997, standards based platforms represented 70 percent of hardware spending worldwide. By the year 2001, that number is expected to exceed 75 percent. 75%。Industry standards are behind two of the most important trends in computing - the emergence of Windows NT as a strategic, enterprise operating system and the expansion of the Internet into every corner of the world. 201311/264433Seven years ago, we made the single biggest investment in clean energy in our history. Here are the results. In fields from Iowa to Texas, wind power is now cheaper than dirtier, conventional power. On rooftops from Arizona to New York, solar is saving Americans tens of millions of dollars a year on their energy bills, and employs more Americans than coal in jobs that pay better than average. Were taking steps to give homeowners the freedom to generate and store their own energy something by the way environmentalists and Tea Partiers have teamed up to support. Meanwhile, weve cut our imports of foreign oil by nearly sixty percent, and cut carbon pollution more than any other country on Earth. Gas under two bucks a gallon aint bad, either.2美元1加仑的油价也不算贵。Now weve got to accelerate the transition away from old dirty energy sources. Rather than subsidize the past, we should invest in the future especially in communities that rely on fossil fuels. We do them no favor, when dont we show them where the trends are going. Thats why Im going to push to change the way we manage our oil and coal resources, so that they better reflect the costs they impose on taxpayers and our planet. And that way, we put money back into those communities and put tens of thousands of Americans to work building a 21st century transportation system. None of this will happen overnight, and yes, there are plenty of entrenched interests who want to protect the status quo. But the jobs well create, the money well save, and the planet well preserve thats the kind of future our kids and grandkids deserve. And its within our grasp. 201602/426446Then there was ;The Daily Show.; On a nightly basis, Jon Stewart forced me to be intellectually honest with myself about my own bigotry and helped me to realize that a persons race, religion or sexual orientation had nothing to do with the quality of ones character. He was in many ways a father figure to me when I was in desperate need of one. Inspiration can often come from an unexpected place, and the fact that a Jewish comedian had done more to positively influence my worldview than my own extremist father is not lost on me. One day, I had a conversation with my mother about how my worldview was starting to change, and she said something to me that I will hold dear to my heart for as long as I live. She looked at me with the weary eyes of someone who had experienced enough dogmatism to last a lifetime, and said, ;Im tired of hating people.; In that instant, I realized how much negative energy it takes to hold that hatred inside of you. Ebrahim is not my real name. I changed it when my family decided to end our connection with my father and start a new life. So why would I out myself and potentially put myself in danger? Well, thats simple. I do it in the hopes that perhaps someone someday who is compelled to use violence may hear my story and realize that there is a better way, that although I had been subjected to this violent, intolerant ideology, that I did not become fanaticized. Instead, I choose to use my experience to fight back against terrorism, against the bigotry. I do it for the victims of terrorism and their loved ones, for the terrible pain and loss that terrorism has forced upon their lives. For the victims of terrorism, I will speak out against these senseless acts and condemn my fathers actions. And with that simple fact, I stand here as proof that violence isnt inherent in ones religion or race, and the son does not have to follow the ways of his father. I am not my father. Thank you. 201409/328983You have demonstrated this through your work你的工作便是最好的例and your focus on health, nutrition and the environment你关注健康 营养和环境You have mobilized the entire country and youve got us all moving你鼓励全国民众 让所有人运动起来eating fresh vegetables吃新鲜蔬菜and doing our part to conserve and protect the planet并尽自己所能节约资源 保护地球Your work with military families reminds us of our responsibility to care for those你对军人家属的关怀 让我们意识到了自己的责任who make personal sacrifices so that we can live正是这些人的牺牲为我们换来了and enjoy peace and freedom in the greatest country on earth在世界上最强大的国家中自由和平生活的权利You are the epitome of ploys with power你是用权力造福民众的典范a role model for young women in America especially little black girls是美国所有年轻女性的楷模 特别是年轻黑人女性and while as a people we respect your great intellectual acumen作为美国人民 我们尊敬你聪明的才智we love your dress game我们喜欢你的换装游戏the arms out showing the glance喜欢你自信地将胳膊露在外面and the hair is flawless还有你完美无瑕的发型Therefore谨此on recommendation of the faculty基于教职员工的推荐and with the approval by the Dillard University Board of Trustees和迪拉德大学董事会的批准I confer upon you the honorary degree of doctor of humane letters, honoris causa我授予你人文荣誉士学位with all the rights, privileges and responsibilities appertaining thereunto以及所有与此相关的权利 特权和责任201504/368010Mobility in developing world cities在世界上发展中国家城市里is a very peculiar challenge,流动性是一个非常严峻的挑战because different from health因为它和健康or education or housing,教育或住房不同it tends to get worse as societies become richer. Mobility, as most other developing country problems,流动性,如同其他大多数,发展中国家所遇到的问题more than a matter of money or technology,不仅仅是钱或科技的问题is a matter of equality, equity. The great inequality in developing countries发展中国家巨大的不平等makes it difficult to see, for example,让我们很难看到,例如that in terms of transport,在交通方面an advanced city is not one一个发达的城市where even the poor use cars,不是连穷人都能使用汽车的地方but rather one where even the rich而是甚至富有的人use public transport. Or bicycles: For example, in Amsterdam,像是自行车:例如,在阿姆斯特丹more than 30 percent of the population超过30%的人口uses bicycles,使用自行车despite the fact that the Netherlands has尽管事实上,荷兰的人均收入a higher income per capita than the ed States. There is a conflict in developing world cities发展中国家城市内部也有矛盾for money, for government investment. If more money is invested in highways,如果更多的钱投资在路政上of course there is less money for housing,那么投资在房屋for schools, for hospitals,学校,医院,各方面的钱就会减少and also there is a conflict for space. There is a conflict for space between矛盾出现在those with cars and those without them. Most of us accept today今天我们大多数人接受that private property and a market economy私人财产和市场经济is the best way to manage most of societys resources. However, there is a problem with that,然而,随之而来的一个问题是that market economy needs市场经济需要通过inequality of income in order to work. Some people must make more money,有些人自然赚到更多的钱some others less. Others fail. Then what kind of equality那么什么样的平等can we hope for today是我们今天在市场经济条件下with a market economy?所期待的?I would propose two kinds我提出两种which both have much to do with cities. The first one is equality of quality of life,第一种是生活质量的平等especially for children,特别是对儿童来说that all children should have,所有儿童都应该拥有beyond the obvious health and education,除了健康和教育条件外access to green spaces, to sports facilities,享受绿地,使用体育设施to swimming pools, to music lessons. And the second kind of equality我所说的第二种平等is one which we could call ;democratic equality.;我们称之为“民主权利平等”The first article in every constitution states每个国家宪法的第一条规定都是that all citizens are equal before the law. That is not just poetry. Its a very powerful principle. For example, if that is true,举例来说,如果这是真的a bus with 80 passengers载有 80名乘客的巴士has a right to 80 times more road space有权获得比单人驾驶的小汽车than a car with one. We have been so used to inequality, sometimes,我们已经非常习惯于不平等,有时that its before our noses and we do not see it.它就在面前,我们看不到它Less than 100 years ago,几十年前women could not vote,女性没有投票权and it seemed normal,好像是正常的事in the same way that it seems normal today正如今天我们看到to see a bus in traffic. In fact, when I became mayor,事实上,当我成为市长的时候applying that democratic principle运用这一民主原则that public good prevails over private interest,即公众利益高于私人利益that a bus with 100 people当一辆巴士载有 100人has a right to 100 times more road space than a car,就有权获得比一辆小车,多 100倍的道路空间we implemented a mass transit system我们实施了一个大运量客运系统based on buses in exclusive lanes. We called it TransMilenio, in order to make buses sexier. And one thing is that it is also a very beautiful democratic symbol, because as buses zoom by,还有一个非常漂亮的民主符号是,当巴士飞驰而过expensive cars stuck in traffic,而昂贵的豪华轿车被堵在路上it clearly is almost a picture of democracy at work. In fact, its not just a matter of equity. It doesnt take Ph.D.s. A committee of 12-year-old children一组 12岁的儿童would find out in 20 minutes就能在 20分钟内找出that the most efficient way to use scarce road space使用有限道路空间的最有效方法is with exclusive lanes for buses. In fact, buses are not sexy,事实上,公共汽车并不性感but they are the only possible means但它们是唯一可能to bring mass transit to all areas在快速发展的发展型城市of fast growing developing cities.

I’ve just been to see Her Majesty the Queen, and I will now form a majority Conservative government.I’ve been proud to lead the first coalition government in 70 years, and I want to thank all those who worked so hard to make it a success; and in particular, on this day, Nick Clegg. Elections can be bruising clashes of ideas and arguments, and a lot of people who believe profoundly in public service have seen that service cut short. Ed Miliband rang me this morning to wish me luck with the new government; it was a typically generous gesture from someone who is clearly in public service for all the right reasons. The government I led did important work: it laid the foundations for a better future, and now we must build on them. I truly believe we’re on the brink of something special in our country; we can make Britain a place where a good life is in reach for everyone who is willing to work and do the right thing. Our manifesto is a manifesto for working people, and as a majority government we will be able to deliver all of it; indeed, it is the reason why I think majority government is more accountable.Three million apprenticeships; more help with childcare; helping 30 million people cope with the cost of living by cutting their taxes; building homes that people are able to buy and own; creating millions more jobs that give people the chance of a better future. And yes, we will deliver that in/out referendum on our future in Europe. As we conduct this vital work, we must ensure that we bring our country together. As I said in the small hours of this morning, we will govern as a party of one nation, one ed Kingdom. That means ensuring this recovery reaches all parts of our country: from north to south, from east to west. And indeed, it means rebalancing our economy, building that “Northern Powerhouse”. It means giving everyone in our country a chance, so no matter where you’re from you have the opportunity to make the most of your life. It means giving the poorest people the chance of training, a job, and hope for the future. It means that for children who don’t get the best start in life, there must be the nursery education and good schooling that can transform their life chances. And of course, it means bringing together the different nations of our ed Kingdom.I have always believed in governing with respect. That’s why in the last Parliament, we devolved power to Scotland and Wales, and gave the people of Scotland a referendum on whether to stay inside the ed Kingdom. In this Parliament I will stay true to my word and implement as fast as I can the devolution that all parties agreed for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.Governing with respect means recognising that the different nations of our ed Kingdom have their own governments, as well as the ed Kingdom government. Both are important, and indeed with our plans, the governments of these nations will become more powerful, with wider responsibilities. In Scotland, our plans are to create the strongest devolved government anywhere in the world with important powers over taxation. And no constitutional settlement will be complete, if it did not offer, also, fairness to England. When I stood here 5 years ago, our country was in the grip of an economic crisis. Five years on, Britain is so much stronger, but the real opportunities lie ahead. Everything I’ve seen over the last 5 years, and indeed, during this election campaign, has proved once again that this is a country with unrivalled skills and creativeness; a country with such good humour, and such great compassion, and I’m convinced that if we draw on all of this, then we can take these islands, with our proud history, and build an even prouder future.Together we can make Great Britain greater still. Thank you.201507/385773

The emergence of low-cost personal computers gave rise to a powerful network that has transformed opportunities for learning and communicating. The magical thing about this network is not just that it collapses distance and makes everyone your neighbor. It also dramatically increases the number of brilliant minds we can have working together on the same problem-and that scales up the rate of potential of innovation to a staggering degree. At the same time, for every person who has access to this technology, five people dont. That means many creative minds are left out of this discussion-smart people with practical intelligence and relevant experience who dont have the technology to hone their talents or contribute their ideas to the world. We need as many people as possible to gain access to this technology, because these advances are riggering a revolution in what human beings can do for one another. They are making it possible not just for national governments, but for universities, corporations, smaller organizations, and even individuals to see problems, see approaches, and measure the impact of their efforts to address the hunger, poverty, and desperation George Marshall spoke of 60 years ago. 201405/300611
